110 pages; illustrated by Baldo Yaga. 8 chapters. Poetry. Lupa and the Yumi Tree’ is about the quest of a young girl named Lupa to solve the mystery of how to BE in the world. Learning to appreciate the differences between people and to celebrate their essences, souls, or spirits enables everyone in the story to eventually appreciate each other for who they really are. Her compadre in this adventure is an Appaloosa called Spotty-Dotty. Dotty talks to Lupa by using her powers of telepathy which is common inter-species chat. The book is about empowerment for children. The poetry enhances appreciation of language and the philosophy crosses all boundaries of culture and religion as the acceptance of differences is at its core. |
